Celebrate the Holidays in Kanata!

December has arrived, and so has the excitement of the holidays! The temparature has dropped, the snow has gradually fallen, and the soft glow and familiarity of Christmas lights have begun to shine through our neighbourhood streets. And as we check items off our Christmas lists one by one, hang the finishing touches on our Christmas trees piece by piece, and RSVP to our Christmas parties one invitation at a time, we like to spend some quality time making lasting memories with our loved ones; luckily, we live in a community that hands us that opportunity on a silver, holiday platter! Here’s a glance at what’s happening in our west end community of Kanata this holiday season:

• Magic of Lights: looking to take in something pretty spectacular? Then Wesley Clover Parks’ Magic of Lights is the spot for you. This 2km “drive-through” experience is bound to make your holiday season a memorable one as you and your family view the magic of over 1 million Christmas lights all from the comfort of your own car. And with a portion of the proceeds going toward the Ottawa Senators Foundation, each car that passes through this enchanting trail between now and January 6^th, 2018, will be supporting a great cause within our community. So, blast those holiday tunes and sing along as you venture through this winter wonderland.
• Kanata Food Cupboard: the holiday season is a fantastic time to give back to our community – specifically to those in need – as there are many families and individuals within our closest neighbourhoods that can’t necessarily afford the same things you can at Christmas time. As such, it’s important to recognize our neighbours, become one, and do something selfless. And what better way to do so than to lend a helping hand? The Kanata Food Cupboard is offering an Adopt-A-Family Program this Christmas, offering help to those who need it by way of adopting an individual or a family so that their Christmas can, too, be a memorable one.
