Beating the Heat: Splash Pads

The month of July is quite arguably the definition of summer. School is out, vacations are in full swing, and the weather is hot, hot, hot. This year, with the sunny days outnumbering the overcast ones, we find ourselves eager to find a place or two to cool down so that we can have some family-fun, without having to sacrifice the great outdoors! Solution: splash pads. Here are a few we’d recommend in your neighbourhood:

• Brookshire Park: located on Klondike Road, this family-friendly park has two adjacent play structures, fully equipped for hours of fun. Found right next to a well-kept, shared soccer field, throw a game of scrimmage together and cool off at the refreshing splash pad!

• Bluegrass Park and Splash Pad: fun for all! A park fit for all ages, a splash pad suited for the whole family, and a shaded picnic area for all those packed lunches you’ll want to bring as you spend the day at Bluegrass! Located nearby Bridlewood School (ideal for parking), you’ll find this splash pad on Bridgestone Drive.

• Kristina Kiss Park: visitors to this park and splash pad have mentioned its friendly neighbourhood surroundings. Located on Akerson Road in Kanata, Kristina Kiss Park is outlined by several walking and bicycle paths, has multiple play structures for the kids, and in the centre of it all: a splash pad you won’t soon forget! 

• Richcraft Recreation Complex: if you’re searching for a place that’s family-friendly, jam-packed with an array of activities, and with a location that’s close to home? Then look no further! The Richcraft Recreation Complex might just be the spot for you and the kids. Inside, you’ll find gymnasiums, a climbing wall, an indoor pool and public washrooms. •  Crownridge Park: fully equipped with play structures, fun water games and splash pad, tennis courts and a picnic area, Crownridge is definitely a summer hotspot. With plenty of parking options nearby, this family-fun cool zone located on Meadowbreeze Drive in Kanata, is one worth checking out.
